The Metropolitan Area of Istanbul
Istanbul is in fact a very romantic city well known for its natural beauty and superb architecture.
Istanbul is also made up of superb suburbs and among the most famous are Kвgithane, Bakirkцy and Zeytinburnu. The city proper has an area of 1991 sq km and its metropolitan area covers an area of 5712 sq km.
Istanbul’s European area is double the size of its Asian section. It contains ѕ of the population of the city. The city’s European section is divided into two – the old section which is known as Stambul and the modern section which is comprised of Beyoglu and Galata in the north.
